Save the date: 5th EbA Knowledge Day, 19 June during SBSTA 50 in Bonn.

EbA Knowledge Day brings together UN negotiators, policy makers, practitioners, researchers, and donors working on issues relevant to climate adaptation, ecosystem management and human resilience:

It aims to: a) share knowledge on approaches for strengthening EbA in international and national policy frameworks, including NDCs and SDGs; b) showcase effectiveness and evidence of EbA benefits; c) identify gaps and opportunities to make EbA mainstreaming effective; and d) share experiences, methods and tools, and implementation examples for strengthening EbA into climate change and sector policies

The 5th EbA Knowledge Day is being organized by GIZ, IUCN and IIED under the Friends of EbA (FEBA) network in the framework of UNFCCC SBSTA 50 with the aim to enhance knowledge on assessing effectiveness of EbA measures (part 1: morning session) and to better understand governance frameworks relevant for EbA mainstreaming (part 2: afternoon session). FEBA consists of more than 70 international organizations including the UNFCCC and CBD.

Venue: GIZ HQs, Bonn / Friedrich Ebert Allee 36 (Room “Saal Donau”, Mäanderbau Building)

Participants: up to 60 persons including negotiators, donors, international organizations, NGOs, research institutions.

Topics:

Part 1 – Effectiveness of Ecosystem-based Adaptation (morning session): This part will focus on how to design, implement and evaluate effective EbA measures including lessons learnt from 12 countries.

Part 2 - Governance frameworks for mainstreaming Ecosystem-based Adaptation (afternoon session): This part will focus on the decision-making elements relevant for EbA mainstreaming, including policy frameworks, institutions and process dimensions, in other words “governance”.

Session formats: panel discussions, market place, learning and exchange groups  

Please note that no SBSTA accreditation will be necessary for attending.
