The 3.6 GW Rogun hydro project reaches a new milestone (Tajikistan)

Webuild has started concrete pouring for the construction of the core dam at the 3.6 GW Rogun hydropower project (6 x 600 MW) in Tajikistan, located about 90 km from Dushanbe. The project, which is owned by the state-owned company JSC Rogun Hydropower Plant, has already two turbines that are producing electricity. When fully commissioned, the US$3.9bn plant is expected to produce 17 TWh/year. Tajikistan has an installed capacity of 6.7 GW (2021), with 6 GW of hydro. The country generated 20.1 TWh in 2020, with 93% of hydro.
