Some 4.51GW of wind and almost 15GW of solar given the green light by Chinese authorities.
Chinese authorities have approved renewable energy projects totalling almost 21GW under a new zero-subsidy policy. The National Development and Reform Commission gave the green light to 224 wind and solar projects with a combined capacity of 19.29GW, as well as 1.47GW of distributed renewable energy power trading pilots.
Fifty-six wind farms with capacity totalling 4.51GW and 168 solar plants totalling 14.78GW were given the go-ahead. The projects are located in 16 of China's provinces, NDRC said. It also called on local grid companies to sign long-term power purchase agreements of up to 20 years with the project developers.
