Africa has been rising for a while, but 2025 marked a year when the continent moved from talking about rising to active implementation. The convergence of climate realities, reducing renewable energy costs and loadshedding pressures have led to political will, private capital and technological innovation converging to accelerate implementation across Africa’s most critical sectors: energy, water, transportation and the food–health nexus.

The first time the G20 was hosted on the continent was also the final showcase for the wave of capital flowing into climate-aligned projects, and infrastructure investment that reflects Africa’s realities. Recognition of the perceived versus actual risk profile of countries and projects will continue to unlock funding.
