Elephant in the room

This is one of the best English metaphorical idiom in my opinion, that points out a serious and big problem that for a number of reasons, the involved people pretend not to see. In the case of energy- especially in the case of the transition to the era of clean energy- “elephants” represent the sectors that, while contribute significantly to the greenhouse effect by producing carbon dioxide emissions to which they are connected, is particularly difficult for them to handle the issue of emission reductions , for commercial, financial, technological, etc. reasons.
