One of the resources directly linked to public health is that of water. Due to the fact that even today a large part of the population does not have access to safe drinking water, a series of " diseases eliminated in the Western world, such as malaria and typhoid continue to spread in developing coutnries. Also, except from drinking water, public health and safety are also affected by the inability of millions of people to have access to sanitary facilities (toilets). In fact, only in India, 40 million people are forced into "open defecation" in the countryside, which is responsible not only for a multitude of diseases but also about 50% of rape for women who are forced to go out every hour of the night from home and walk to remote areas.
