The cities
During periods of heatwave and high temperatures, building materials that have been used (mainly cement and asphalt), reradiate the absorbed heat, elevating the ambient temperature , eliminating any concept of thermal comfort. Moreover, due to the high percentage of land cover, the reduced number of rainfalls cause great floods that drainage urban projects and flood defense projects are not able to hold back. There are some interventions that can reduce the effects of overheating in cities, such as the creation of large green areas and the use of running water in fountains, but the problem cannot be solved in that way. As we know, prevention is more effective than any treatment.
