Deon Henriksen, Vice President of Electrification and Automation at Siemens explains why they’re excited about renewables

Siemens has a lot of components in its portfolio which are used in the renewable market according to Deon Henriksen, Vice President of Electrification and Automation at Siemens.

“From the medium voltage switchgear through to the hybrid power point controllers, allowing the collector stations for those IPPs to just get all the power together and get it connected to the grid.”

Henriksen said the company wants to ensure that their customers get quality power rather than just some intermittent power and ensure that it is properly managed.

“In terms of customers who will benefit from our products and service, I’m talking about customers like the end-users of electricity; it’s not just the end-users of our product, but the end-users of electricity as well.

“So making sure that they are getting a reliable service connected to the grid, making sure that the power is available for them, and then our direct customers having a quality product that allows them to connect the power to the Eskom transmission grid,” he said.
