RWE begins construction on 200-megawatt Texas wind project
RWE has begun construction of a 200MW wind project in Texas.
Montgomery Ranch Wind Farm, in Foard County, will increase the company’s installed wind capacity in the Lone Star State to 4.3GW when completed.
The project, which will feature 45 4.5MW turbines from Vestas, is expected to employ up to 300 people during construction and will be completed by the end of 2024.
Texas RWE’s Texas portfolio also includes the 240MW Blackjack Creek and the 200MW El Algodon Alto wind farms.
“Wind projects such as Montgomery Ranch contribute to a cleaner, stronger economy and help create a more resilient energy infrastructure in Texas,” said chief executive of RWE Clean Energy chief executive Mark Noyes.
“Last summer ERCOT set 11 new demand records and we are on track to meet, if not exceed, that record this summer.
"With our planned build out of renewable resources in Texas, we are contributing to a more diverse grid that is flexible and responsive to meet future energy demands in the Lone Star State.”
