International Tree Planting Initiative during 8-10 March 2022 - Press release

In the frame of the initiative "75UN - 75 Trees UNAI SDG7", the Sifnos Women’s Association “To Smari”, completed the planting of 200 (two hundred) olive trees from the sponsorship of “Hellenic Plants” during 8-10 March 2022.

Under the terms of the Memorandum of Cooperation that is signed between the Association and UNAI Hub SDG7, the Municipality undertakes the care of the trees for a period of five years and to the best of its ability, encouraging the local community for tree planting, in the coming years, as to contribute to global efforts to tackle climate change. For its part, KEPA - UNAI Hub SDG7 undertakes the notification of tree planting to the collaborating Municipalities and bodies, to the Hellenic Union of Greek Municipalities (KEDE), to the Greek media and through UNAI to the respective UN media.

The two parties agree on the promotion of their cooperation with a view to establishing an International Cooperative Initiative (ICI) in the framework of the respective activities of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC).
