Vietnam Wind Power 2019
We’re just over one month away from the second edition of GWEC’s Vietnam Wind Power 2019 which will take place in Hanoi from 11-12 June, in partnership with GIZ and the Danish Embassy Hanoi.
Why Vietnam?
Vietnam's establishment of the Feed-in-Tariff in September 2018 has created renewed momentum for the country’s wind market and attracted a rush of development projects. With already 228 MW of installed wind capacity in the country, the Vietnamese government has set the targets for wind development at 800 MW by 2020, 2,000 MW by 2025 and at 6,000 MW by 2030.
However, there are still a number of regulatory challenges to be addressed in order for project developers to be able to advance with Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) that are bankable from the international project financing sector, while the future potential and system impact of renewables has yet to be fully recognised in the government’s long-term planning.
What to expect at Vietnam Wind Power 2019?
Through a range of workshops and conference sessions, we will be discussing some hot topics including project financing challenges, offshore opportunities that will be key to boosting Vietnam's emerging wind market. On top of this, we will be organising Matchmaking Meetings for local banks to meet with international banks to share best practices for project financing and open up new doors for investment for wind energy in the country.
