Ranked: Top 10 Countries Leading The World In Renewable Energy Shift.
Believe it or not, with 12.74% of its total energy consumption driven by renewables, Germany leads the world, according to a new study. In addition, renewables accounted for 40% of Germany’s electricity consumption in 2018. The United Kingdom ranked number two on the list of the “Top 10 Countries Leading The World In Renewable Energy,” followed by Sweden and Spain.
Italy ranked 5th in their renewable energy use at 8.8% in the country’s total consumption. Brazil ranks at 6th with even lower renewable use levels at just 7.35%.
Unfortunately, the United States ranks at 10th with a renewable energy proportion of less than half that of the United Kingdom and nearly 3 times less that of Germany at 4.32%.

- United Kingdom: 11.95%
- Sweden: 10.96%
- Spain: 10.17%
- Italy: 8.8%
- Brazil: 7.35%
- Japan: 5.3%
- Turkey: 5.25%
- Australia: 4.75%
- United States: 4.32%
While coal still continues to be a major source of electric generation, solar, wind and other renewable energy sources have emerged as major alternatives to produce power in recent years.
