Empowering Lives and Livelihood

In response to climate change and the recent health and geopolitical crises that has exerted additional pressure on the food and health systems, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are establishing Empowering Lives and Livelihoods – Renewables for Climate Action initiative. The initiative aims to raise USD 1 billion towards programmatic support to governments and partner implementing agencies pursuing practical solutions strengthening value chains in the agri-food and health sectors, with a special focus on gender and inclusion. IRENA and the UAE are inviting governments, philanthropy organizations, foundations, trusts, and businesses in climate, renewables and sustainability to be an integral part of the year-long campaign towards COP28.
