The world needs to phase out total coal use from 36% of power generation in 2022 to 4% by 2030, a span of eight years.
A number of countries have proved that a rapid phase down is possible.
For example, the UK mirrored what's needed globally, reducing coal from 36% to less than 4%, in just six years.
A variety of other European countries have also undergone impressive reductions in coal use, including Denmark, Greece, Spain and Portugal.
Outside of Europe, the fastest reductions in coal power were from Chile, Israel and the United States.
