Poland’s installed solar power capacity reached 2,261 GW on August 1, 2020, up from 882.6 MW a year ago, according to data available to the transmission system operator (TSO) PSE SA .

About 150 MW have been added in July.

Poland reached its first solar gigawatt in the autumn of 2019, mainly thanks to microinstallations like rooftop solar systems. Such systems, mainly in the residential sector, still account for a big share of the total capacity. The latest report from the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), covering data up to June 30, shows that the combined capacity of large-scale solar parks in Poland was just 708 MW. This is up from 478 MW in mid-2019.

Large-scale solar grew twice as much as wind in the 12 months between July 2019 and June 2020. ERO’s report shows wind farms have reached 6,040 MW, with 12-month additions of 123 MW.

At the end of June 2020, Poland’s total capacity from large renewable power plants, hydro included, was 9,475 GW, up from 9,106 MW a year before.
